MarblJar Privacy Policy

Last updated November 2, 2026

The short version

MarblJar is a daily wins journal, and your entries are yours. We do not sell your data, show ads, or use your entries for advertising.

  • Your entries live on your iPhone and are backed up to your account.
  • Your account stores your email and your backup securely, so you can get your jars back on a new phone.
  • Subscriptions are handled by Apple and RevenueCat. We never see your card details.

MarblJar is operated by Melody Liu ("we", "us"). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we collect

You need an account to use MarblJar. What else we hold depends on whether you subscribe.

Voice input. If you tap the microphone, your speech is turned into text. This happens on your iPhone when it supports on-device recognition. Otherwise Apple's speech recognition service processes it. We do not store your recordings, and only the resulting text is saved.

Reminders. Notifications are scheduled on your iPhone. We do not receive them or their contents.

Sharing. A recap card leaves your phone only when you choose to share it, and whoever receives it can see what is on it.

Device backups. If your iPhone backs up to iCloud or a computer, that backup can include what MarblJar stores on your phone. Apple or your computer holds that copy, not us.

Payments. Apple processes all payments. We never receive your card or bank details.

We do not use advertising trackers and do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

How long we keep it, and deleting it

We keep your account and backup until you delete them. Entries on your iPhone stay there until you log out or remove them.

Your rights

You can ask to see, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information. Depending on where you live, you may also object to or limit how we use it, or withdraw consent.

Email hello@marbljar.app to make a request. We will not treat you differently for using these rights, and we may need to confirm your identity first. If you are in the UK or EEA, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. California residents have the right to know, delete and correct their information. We do not sell or share it as California law defines those terms.

Children

MarblJar is not intended for children under 13, or the minimum age required where you live. We do not knowingly collect their information. If you think a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

International transfers

Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.

Security

Information sent between the app and our providers is encrypted in transit, and each backup can be reached only through its owner's account. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong, unique password.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. We will tell you in the app or by email if a change is significant.
